Hi, I'm Benji!
I'm a 9 year old neutered male tricolor (tan/brown & black & white) Rat Terrier.
Age: 9 1/2 years
Weight: 16 lbs
Physical Description: Smooth-coated tricolor, erect ears, short tail.
My Story: I'm a sweet little guy who lost my home when my owner passed away. I am timid at first, but quickly show my loving personality to kind people. I'm super happy when someone I know is petting me and loving on me. I am house trained, and in my previous home I was fine being left alone for 5-8 hours. I lived with other dogs and got along very well with them. Because I can be shy, any children in my home must be age 12 or older and always treat me gently. I do have a goofy side to my personality and will reveal that goofiness to you once I know you're my friend! I enjoy going for walks and have great leash manners and the most adorable little trot. Life dealt me a tough hand, but I know there's someone out there who will love having me as their devoted companion! Benji is approved for families with respectful kids aged 10 and up.
The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.
I have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I've received routine treatment for internal and external parasites. I have tested negative for heartworm.
If you are interested in adopting me, the first step is to submit an adoption application. You can download an application from the links below, attach the completed application to an email, and send it to the Humane Society of Jefferson County at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the application is received, the approval process will take approximately 1-3 business days and you will be contacted as soon as it is completed. Please contact the shelter at 920-674-2048 with any questions.
