Hi, I'm Zeus - Special Needs!
I'm a 1 year old neutered male brindle with white Terrier / Mix.
Age: Approximately 1 1/2 years
Weight: 28 lbs
Physical Description: Smooth-coated brindle with white, erect ears, long tail.
My Story: I'm a super sweet, medium sized boy looking for a very special adopter. I came from an overburdened shelter in Alabama but beyond that, nothing is known about my history. I am listed as "special needs" because I am extremely shy and unsure of myself. Although I really want to be loved, I don't have the confidence to ask for attention or affection. I must live in a quiet, adults only home where there won't ever be any small children whose noise and commotion would be too scary for me. I am food motivated and love tasty treats, which will be a big help in giving me positive reinforcement. My ideal adopter will be very kind and patient, have a good deal of dog experience, and understand that bringing me out of my shell will take a lot of time and work. (Rome wasn't built in a day, and my confidence level won't be built in a day, either!). My fearfulness makes me a flight risk, so a fenced in yard would be perfect for me. If you are an incredibly compassionate person, and you have the time and patience to help me feel safe and loved, you might be right for me. Given enough time and love, I know I can become your devoted companion and very best friend! Zeus is considered "special needs" due to his extreme shyness. He is approved for a quiet, adults only home.
I have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I've received routine treatment for internal and external parasites. I have tested negative for heartworm.
If you are interested in adopting me, the first step is to submit an adoption application. You can download an application from the links below, attach the completed application to an email, and send it to the Humane Society of Jefferson County at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the application is received, the approval process will take approximately 1-3 business days and you will be contacted as soon as it is completed. Please contact the shelter at 920-674-2048 with any questions.
