When is the race?
The 4th Annual Furry Friends 5K will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Where will the race take place?
At the Jefferson County Fair Park – Gate 1 (south end by the Grandstand) which is located at 503 N. Jackson Avenue, Jefferson WI 53549. The route will take you out and about on the beautiful country roads behind the JCFP. It will offer you a flat course (perfect for experienced runners and casual walkers alike!) and a scenic view as well as an opportunity to set your new personal record!
Are dogs allowed?
Yes! However, dogs must be “people friendly,” “dog friendly,” current on all vaccinations and leashed with a 4′-6′ non-retractable leash. If you are not sure that you will absolutely participate WITH your dog, please answer “yes” when registering, as it will help us to assure that all dog participants receive a medal!

Will there be race day registration?
Yes there will be race day registration from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at the Jefferson County Fair Park. There will also be registration and packet pick-up from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at the Humane Society. Race T-shirts are NOT guaranteed after May 10.
Can I pick up my friend’s packet?
Yes, you can pick up someone else’s packet – as long as you have a copy of their photo ID.
Are walkers welcome?
Walkers are encouraged to participate!
Are there restrooms available?
Restrooms are available near Gate 1 of the Jefferson County Fair Park.
Can I get a refund if I decide not to do the race or am injured?
We are unable to provide refunds, but thank you for supporting the Humane Society of Jefferson County. You may still pick up your race packet/t-shirt during the packet pick-up times.
Are strollers allowed?
For the 5K run and walk strollers are allowed but must start at the rear of the race pack. Babies do not need to be formally registered. Children of school age do need to be formally registered.
How much of the registration fee goes to charity?
100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
Can I change my t-shirt size?
At the time you pick up your packet, you can change shirt sizes IF there is availability of the size you are requesting.
Are ear buds allowed?
Use of ear buds/headphones is allowed (but discouraged) for safety reasons.
Can I run the race for someone else, or can someone else run for me?
Due to safety reasons you are not allowed to participate under someone else’s registration. We must have emergency contact information available, in case there is an emergency.
Can I get a refund if it is raining?
The race will take place rain or shine. In the event of lightning, the race will be cancelled. We are unable to provide refunds, but thank you for supporting the Humane Society of Jefferson County. You may still pick up your race packet/t-shirt during the packet pick-up times.
New this year: Pledges!
Participants have the option to collect pledges from friends and family to further support the HSJC’s mission to care for the lost, homeless, and abused animals of Jefferson County. Just turn your pledges in at the registration table on race day (please have money in an envelope which should be clearly marked with your name and phone number). The 2 people who collect the most pledges will receive prizes.
