When is the race?

The 9th Annual Furry Friends 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 starting at 9 a.m. sharp.

Where will the race take place?

The race takes place at the Jefferson County Fair Park – Gate 1 (south end near the Grandstand) which is located at 503 N. Jackson Avenue, in Jefferson. The route will take participants on scenic country roads northwest of the Fair Park. It offers a flat course which is perfect for experienced runners (may be an opportunity to set a new personal record!) and casual walkers alike.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are not only allowed, but encouraged! However, dogs must be “people friendly,” “dog friendly,” current on all vaccinations, and leashed with a 4′-6′ non-retractable leash. Also, be sure to pick up after your furry friend!

Will there be race day registration?

Yes there will be race day registration for the in-person race from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at the Jefferson County Fair Park. There will also be registration during packet pick-up from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2oth, at the Humane Society. Race T-shirts are NOT guaranteed after May 1st.

Are walkers welcome?

Walkers are encouraged to participate!

Are bicycles allowed?

No. For the safety of all participants, bicycles/scooters/skateboards are NOT allowed.

Are there restrooms available?

Restrooms are available near Gate 1 of the Jefferson County Fair Park. There are no restrooms along the route.

Can I get a refund if I decide not to do the race or am injured?

We are unable to provide refunds. You may still pick up your race packet/t-shirt during the packet pick-up times.

Are strollers allowed?

For the 5K run and walk strollers are allowed but must start at the rear of the race pack. Babies in strollers do not need to be formally registered.

How much of the registration fee goes to the Humane Society?

100% of the net proceeds from this event will benefit the Humane Society of Jefferson County.

Can I change my t-shirt size?

At the time you pick up your packet, you can change shirt sizes IF there is availability of the size you are requesting.

Are ear buds allowed?

Use of ear buds/headphones is allowed but discouraged for safety reasons.

Can I run the race for someone else, or can someone else run for me?

Due to safety reasons you are not allowed to participate under someone else’s registration. We must have emergency contact information available, in case there is an emergency.

Can I get a refund if it is raining?

The race will take place rain or shine. In the event of lightning, the race will be cancelled. We are unable to provide refunds. You may still pick up your race packet/t-shirt during the packet pick-up times.

What are the safety procedures for social distancing for the race day?

Participants will line up using designated markings (6 feet apart) no earlier than 5 minutes before the race.  Participants will not be allowed to congregate prior to the start of the race or conduct any race preparations in the starting area.  At this time, masks are recommended while not on the race course.
