HSJC’s First Furry Friends Kids Camp

The Humane Society of Jefferson County’s Furry Friends Kids Camp held August 8-12 was a great success!  The campers enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the shelter interacting with the resident dogs and cats and making adoption posters to help them find their forever homes.  They also completed many craft projects including  tying fleece blankets for their feline friends, making homemade dog biscuits, and constructing bird feeders.  There were many animal related games, and lots of music, stories and activities which focused on humane education.  Some of the guest speakers included representatives from Wildlife in Need, Officer Ben Boeve with his K9 partner, Dino, and bird expert Doc Hamann. It was a fun-filled experience for the children as they learned about kindness and compassion for the animals who share our world.
