Hi, I'm Zippy - Reduced Fee!!
I'm a 1 year old spayed female tortoiseshell tortabby Domestic Short Hair.
I'm a young girl who was surrendered because my owner was moving. I have a calm and relaxed personality, but I also have my playful side. I like to be petted and held and I can be quite talkative. I lived with kids and other cats and I got along well with them. I'm FIV+ and heartworm positive, so here's what you need to know about that: FIV is not transferred through sharing food or water bowls or by close contact with other cats; it is spread through deep bite wounds. FIV+ cats can live just as long as FIV-negative cats, and as a spayed, indoor pet, my risk of ill health is very much diminished. Heartworm disease can be totally asymptomatic (meaning no symptoms at all) in cats, while others may develop issues over time. At the HSJC, adoptable cats with heartworm disease are currently in good health and are on a monthly preventative to prevent spread and re-exposure. It is highly recommended to keep heartworm positive cats on a monthly preventative throughout their lives. Cats may remain healthy for their entire lifetime since the heartworm parasite has a shorter lifespan in cats than in dogs, but there is a chance of complications down the road. Personally, I'd say there's no guarantee of health for any animal or human - and I think I deserve a loving home just as much as any other cat!
I was a great mother to my kittens, and thanks to the shelter's "No Mom Left Behind" program my adoption fee is just $40.00!
I have been spayed, vaccinated, and I've received routine treatment for internal and external parasites. I have tested negative for Feline Leukemia and been tested for FIV.
