Hi, I'm Monroe!
I'm a 9 year old neutered male black with white Labrador Retriever.
Age: Approximately 8 years
Weight: 63 lbs
Physical Description: Smooth-coated black with white, drop ears, long tail.
My Story: I'm a dignified and well behaved gentleman whose past life wasn't ideal. I have good manners and conduct myself in a respectful way. I love to go for walks and have great leash etiquette. I have some arthritis but we all have some aches and pains in middle age! ;) Besides, there are very good medications for dogs with arthritis that don't cost a lot. My caregivers at the shelter call me "a wonderful old soul" because I'm truly such a great guy. If you believe all dogs deserve a good home, I'd love to find out what it feels like to be loved! Monroe is approved for families with children aged 12 and up.
The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.
I have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I've received routine treatment for internal and external parasites. I have tested negative for heartworm.
If you are interested in adopting me, the first step is to submit an adoption application. You can download an application from the links below, attach the completed application to an email, and send it to the Humane Society of Jefferson County at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the application is received, the approval process will take approximately 1-3 business days and you will be contacted as soon as it is completed. Please contact the shelter at 920-674-2048 with any questions.
