Hi, I'm Reilly - Adoption Fee Paid!!
I'm a 2 year old neutered male tan/yellow/fawn with white Terrier / Mix.
REILLY: Approximately one and a half to two years old, extremely fearful, needs a very knowledgeable adopter and a quiet adults only home, must be the only pet and have a fenced-in yard.
I'm a sweet young boy who was found discarded and alone on a bike path when I was just 4 weeks old. Not only was I too young to fend for myself or be away from my mother, but I also had a broken leg and wouldn't have survived if someone hadn't found me. Because I had such a horrible experience as a very young puppy I have some fears and behavioral challenges. I am absolutely terrified here at the shelter. I finally feel okay with my primary caregiver and a couple other people, but I am still extremely afraid of people I don't know. My fear is not just about being at the shelter and I will be very fearful in my new home too. I'm looking for a very dog knowledgeable adopter and I need an adults only home where I will be the only animal. I must also have a fenced-in yard. I am not suitable for an adopter who doesn't have a LOT of knowledge about canine behavior and a schedule that gives them lots of time to work one on one with me. When I feel safe I am very affectionate and love to cuddle and be petted; however, this won't be accomplished in a few days or weeks. I get very over stimulated during play and don't understand or respect other dogs' signals, so I cannot live with other dogs (or any other kind of animal) and I cannot go to a dog park. I have a lot of energy and really enjoy going for long-line sniffing walks and my favorite toy is a frisbee. I have the potential to have dog friends to go on walks with, but this will take lots of time and training. My adopter will be required to meet me a few times at the shelter before I can go home with them. I won't be an easy dog, but with the right person I can be a great dog. If you are very dog savvy and can commit to working with me and helping me feel safe and more confident, you could be the special person I need!

Thanks to a generous donor, my adoption fee has been paid!
The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.
I have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I've received routine treatment for internal and external parasites. I have tested negative for heartworm.
If you are interested in adopting me, the first step is to submit an adoption application. You can download an application from the links below, attach the completed application to an email, and send it to the Humane Society of Jefferson County at email@example.com. Once the application is received, the approval process will take approximately 1-3 business days and you will be contacted as soon as it is completed. Please contact the shelter at 920-674-2048 with any questions.
