Open by Appointment due to Feline Panleukopenia Virus

The shelter is open for adoptions by appointment only until further notice.

Please contact the shelter at 920-674-2048 or shelter@hsjc-wis.com to schedule an appointment. You will be asked to complete the adoption application online prior to your appointment, if possible. All kittens are unfortunately unavailable for adoption at this time.

Sadly, due to the discovery of the feline panleukopenia virus in our shelter, we have had to make the difficult decision to close down to walk-in visitors.

Panleukopenia is a highly contagious and often fatal virus, especially in kittens. There is no treatment for the virus. When a cat contracts the virus all we are able to do is offer supportive care and hope their immune systems can clear the virus. Unfortunately, we have already had some casualties.

This is not a choice we make lightly, but one that must be made to best protect the animals currently in our shelter as well as those in the community. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we weather this storm, and we apologize for the inconveniences closing the shelter will cause.
